Milton Area Guide

Milton, Delaware with its small population and big heart, has a place for everyone who comes to visit. Boasting the big city amenities while maintaining its small town ambience, Milton has a civic center, memorial park and recreational possibilities much larger towns would love to have.

Milton serves its local residents and summer tourists well, with places like Broadkill Beach and Primehook Beach. Family operated businesses are the norm here and Milton residents are involved in numerous community organizations, making the town’s family atmosphere a must have for visitors and new residents. While you’re here, soak up the history of Milton’s shipbuilding heritage and take the tours of the homes of some of the finest examples of Victorian and Colonial architecture. You’ll take a trip back in time to a simpler era and enjoy the ride!

Visit us, enjoy all our activities and you’ll see what we mean. Milton is a great place to visit or to raise a family!

History
First settled by English colonists in 1672, the community went through several names until 1807 when the name Milton was agreed upon. Named after the English poet, John Milton, The Delaware General Assembly passed a charter recognizing “The Town of Milton” as a municipality in 1945. For more history, visit: Historic Milton
